The fundraising team was formed in approximately January, 2011. Since formation, they have done an amazing job researching and writing grants, putting on fundraiser dinners, and researching additional fundraising opportunities for PYSA.
In an attempt to keep player fees low, PYSA must supplement our income with additional fundraising opportunities and this team has done an amazing job helping the organization accomplish the goal of keeping the budget balanced. ( See the current budget here. ) In the future, the team will also help raise money for new soccer facilities.
● Develop 1/3/5 year plans based on the financial needs and goals of PYSA
● Research the availability of various grants from various sources
● Grant Writing
● Local Fundraising Efforts – 2 to 3 per year
● Team Sponsorships (designing sponsorship, obtaining sponsorships,
execution of… t-shirt printing, banners, etc. etc.)
● Field Sponsorship (e.g., First Interstate Field)
This team is headed up by co-chairs Sarah Smith and Emily Michalik River.
Emily Michalik River
Emily is a senior manager for an international division of UnitedHealth Group. She has a BA from Duke University, an M.Ed in counseling from Texas State, and is completing an MPH from University of Montana. She grew up in Massachusetts and Chicago, and loves the ocean, mountains, skiing, road biking, and hiking. She has been playing and a fan of soccer for decades, and loves watching Polson kids develop and shine in her favorite sport. She has lived in Polson with her two boys for 10 years.
